How to Play Roulette Online

Learn how to play roulette

Roulette is well-known for being the ultimate game of chance. The essence of roulette sees a small ball spun in the opposite direction of the roulette wheel, before it finally falls into a numbered slot. If the ball lands where the player predicted, they win their bet.

No-one can control the outcome of any spin in roulette, while each turn is independent from the other, hence why it is a game of pure chance.

The game originated in France in the 18th century, with the name “roulette” meaning “little wheel” in French. Nowadays, the game is played in land-based and online casinos around the world, with roulette widely considered to the quintessential casino game.

Roulette Basics

When a player at arrives at a roulette table (whether online or in a traditional casino) they’ll be greeted by a cloth broken down into many sections and numbers. New players needn’t worry, though, roulette is a very simple game to play.

Roulette wheels feature numbers 0 to 36, alternating between red and black slot, along with one green zero slot in European and French Roulette (or two green zeros in American Roulette).
